Split System

A split system air conditioner is one of the most popular types of air conditioning systems on the market. A split system consists of a outdoor compressor unit, which is placed outside of your home, and one more more indoor units, to be able to heat or cool a single or multiple rooms of your home.
A split system is only designed to do single zones or rooms. If you were install a single split system into a lounge area, you would still recieve some heating or cooling into directly joining rooms, but not as much as the area where the unit is installed.
There is also an option to install multiple indoor units to a single outdoor compressor unit, This is called a Multi Zone Split System. This type of system is practical when there is insufficient roof space for a ducted system to be installed.

Split System – How They Work

A split system air conditioner in an air conditioning system that works without the use of ductwork. It comprises of an Indoor ‘Head’ Unit and an Outdoor Compressor. The two units are connected by refrigerant pipes and electrical cabling.
The Split System Outdoor Compressor is placed on the outside of your home, usually on the side of the house where it cannot be seen. The outdoor compressor is connected to the indoor unit via electrical cables and refrigerant pipes. The Outdoor Compressor pressurises the refrigerant gasses, which is the key to creating either heating or cooling from your Split System Air Conditioner.
The Split System Indoor unit is placed on the inside of the house, either on an internal or external wall, and is connected to the outdoor unit either through the walls or ceilings. The indoor unit depressureises the refrigerant and uses a fan coil to distribute the air through the area it is installed in.

Split System – Benefits

  • Nano Titanium Stainless Steel Filter – Reduces the amount of bacterial agents passing through the filter and being redistributed by the indoor fan. (Optional on HITACHI RAS25 & RAS35, Standard on Higher Model HITACHI Units)
  • Inverter Systems – Inverter Systems slow the motor when the room reaches temprature, Instead of turning off the system completely. This will save you money because the unit does not need to restart every time the temprature changes, it just increases the fan speed.
  • Quiet Operation – HITACHI air conditioners are one of the quietest brands on the market today, with the smallest unit (2.5kw) around 20 -25 Decibels (Whisper Quiet) and the largest unit (8kw) around 55 decibels (db) at the indoor unit. Also remember that the indoor units can invert, so it can be even quieter!
